Dauphin Lake Trap Net and Telemetry Study
2012
Don Stokotelny & Megan Anger
The main objective of this project was to provide Dauphin Lake user groups with data on fish population as well as distribution and movement within the lake. 1285 target species fish (walleye, northern pike, perch, and tullibee) were sampled, tagged, and live released back into the lake. 54 walleye were fitted with telemetry tags, which are tags that emit a radio signal, to allow their movement to be tracked with a radio receiver. The Dauphin Lake Trap Net and Telemetry Study will supply much needed data to fisheries managers, allowing them to make more educated decisions regarding this local fishery.
